Darin, 33, launched his Cleveland-based writing and editing
business, Writing Matters, in February 2006. He works with publication
editors and corporate marketing managers who value solid content,
including ones at large firms such as Eastman Kodak and Reed
Business Information, and others at trade publications and small
businesses. Their common thread is a core belief: Writing Matters.
Darin graduated from Ohio University as E.W. Scripps School
of Journalism's Graduate of the Year in 1998.
From 1995-98, his weekly humor column in The Post, OU's
independent daily student newspaper, frequently was picked up
by USA Today Online and other publications. He also
wrote sports stories, investigative reports and editorials, capturing
regional and national Society
of Professional Journalist awards. During the Summer Games
in 1996, he served as an intern on the Olympics Desk of
the Atlanta Journal-Constitution. The following summer,
he worked for Writers' Digest magazine and F+W Publications
Inc. He also served as a freelancer for several national consumer
magazines while a student at OU.
From 1998-2005, Darin worked for the trade publication Print
Solutions magazine in Alexandria, Va. As managing editor
from 2000-2005, he made several improvements that led to more
subscribers and ad revenue, and captured profile-writing
awards from the American Society of Business Publication
Editors. He was named ASBPE's Young Leader's Scholarship recipient
in 2003.
Darin and his family live in Strongsville, Ohio.
